» CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character NAME: Fëanor is how he is usually referred to in the book. However, Curufinwë Fëanáro in his name in his native language of Quenya.
Canon & MEDIUM: The Silmarillion, a book by J.R.R. Tolkien
Canon PULL-POINT: Some time while Galadriel was still a child and definitely before he forged the Silmarils. In any event, he's pulled from when he was in his work room or the forge, working on something.
Character AGE: Probably at least 1500 years old but less than 2000 - does it really matter with elves?
Character ABILITIES:
> Being an elf, specifically one born and raised in the blessed lands. This basically means he's very strong, has excellent endurance, immunity to disease and extreme resistance to things like starvation and exposure. Also he has the light of Aman in his eyes basically. And of course the general racial abilities of elves like walking on snow and seeing for miles and so forth.
> Spontaneous combustion upon death. ... no I'm serious, this is actually canonically how he dies.
> He is said to be the greatest craftsman of the elves - and greater even than some Maiar. He makes things that no one else is able to and no one ever replicates, such as the palantiri and the silmarils. However, it should be noted that a part of his own essence went into such things and that is in part why they could not be replicated.

Character HISTORY: Here is a wikipedia article on Feanor that gives a summary of his life. Also, here is a general summary of The Silmarillion. Feanor dies before the Sun and Moon are created, so the first few paragraphs of the section I linked to are the only relevant parts to his life.

Character PERSONALITY: When he was born, Feanor’s mother named him ‘Spirit of Fire’, and by fire he is best defined.

Like a flame, he is never still, always burning with restlessness and a drive to learn and move and create. He isn’t happy unless he is busy, working on some new project or exploring new areas of Valinor. He also burns hot with a strong desire for independence and for mastery over all things be they words or matter or the wills of other people. He can be warm and attractive and draw people to him as moths to a candle with his words and his natural charisma, but he can just as easily lash out and scorch others with his barbed tongue and his fierce temper. Despite his genius level of intelligence, he is prone to acting rashly amidst his anger. Moreover, as the eldest son of the king of his people, and as one who is called the greatest of the Noldor, he wields a great deal of power, and he knows it and is proud of his place and his creations. Arrogant, even, and there are few opinions he prizes above his own. When his mind is made up, it is nigh impossible to change it.

However, although he is willful and stubborn, he is not entirely without restraint, for there is one woman to whom he will listen… most of the time: his wife, Nerdanel. She is a calm, steady rock for him, and she both sooths his restlessness and grounds him, getting him to stop and think before he does something rash. Of course, she cannot always stop him, and here in Exsilium, her presence will surely be missed – both by him, for he loves his wife (and his sons) dearly, and as the one thing that tempers him from time to time.

But for all his confidence and arrogance and for all his genius level intellect and ability, he is not without his own worries and insecurities. His mother Miriel died shortly after he was born and refused to return, though her body was maintained. And his father Finwe was quite grieved by this, though he eventually took a new wife, named Indis. Although Finwe had other children by Indis, Feanor remained his favorite, and this certainly contributed to Feanor’s pride – but also the very fact that Finwe remarried and had other children makes Feanor feel insecure. It is very likely he feels in some ways abandoned by his mother, but also he feels as though Indis usurps her place and he fears that his half brothers may usurp his place, as well. Because of this grudge he holds against Indis and particularly Fingolfin, the first of his two half brothers, he also is less than fond of his brothers’ children and any who find Fingolfin or Finarfin (the other half brother) more appealing than him. Indeed, this bitterness and insecurity and grudge holding will later lead to some very poor choices on Feanor’s part – though for now, he simply begrudges them much in the way of friendship.

That said, Exsilium will appeal very much to the independent and creative part of him, giving him a multitude of new things for distraction. New things to build, new things to see and learn – and new challenges to conquer. In his own world, part of what contributes to his eventual downfall (aside, of course, from the ever-dangerous pride and his own innate instability) is his desire for independence and mastery, something he feels the Valar (the sort of ‘gods’ that actively govern the land of Valinor where he lives) do not allow for – and perhaps he is right, for the land of Valinor has very little in the way of danger and strife, and for a spirit of fire, there are only so many places he can light before he runs out of fuel to burn…

» EXSILIUM INFORMATION
Chosen WEAPON: A blacksmith’s hammer.
It will begin as an ordinary hammer, but will at the very least gain the ability to change size and weight as well as perhaps some slight shape modifications so that it may eventually be used as anything from a small hammer for fine chiseling or jewelry work to a hefty war hammer.

Character INVENTORY:
> The clothes on his back, which include also a work apron suitable to smithing and sturdy work boots (albeit elvish, so they're well made and probably have elaborate tooling and designs and stuff to make them pretty).
> his hammer, of course.
> also other tools he has hanging off his belt - pliers, crimpers, cutters, knife, etc.

First PERSON:

Greetings.

[ There's no point in wasting time with unnecessary pleasantries or losing any watchers' focus by beating around the bush, so he dives right in to what he wants, though not without a bit of a smile. There's a light of excitement in his eyes - there are new things he wants to make and new experiments to figure out how to make them - this ... electricity thing is fascinating. ]

I need a supply of steel, copper, gold and graphite. Also, if there is a working furnace capable of melting glass, I would like to know about it.

Thank y-- no wait I also need an expert in what you call electronics. I have questions, and you probably have answers.

Thank you.

[ Short and to the point, but he hopes it will get him what he needs - and in any case, it's not very fun to spend a lot of time wheedling answers out of people on this tablet with small talk, when he can dive right into the really interesting and meaty topics with the few around here who seem to actually know what they're doing! ]

Third PERSON: Here is a thread with him on the most recent Exsilium test drive meme. I hope that is satisfactory, as it was made specifically for this game.
